Daily Aha! w/ Dr. Oz

Daily Aha!
Sugar from fruit is molecularly identical to the sugar in candy.
Whether it’s in a piece of fruit or a piece of cake, sugar is always made up of the same two components: fructose and glucose. But don’t get the idea that because the sugar composition is the same, fruit and cake are interchangeable! Fruit offers lots of goodies that candy and desserts don’t—like skin beautifying vitamins, and water—plus it has much less sugar by volume. Case in point: Half a cup of strawberries has 3.5 grams of sugar, while the same amount of strawberry ice cream packs 15 grams.
