Free Personal Trainer at Home?

Looking for a free personal trainer at home?  Now you can get one…well sorta.

In my quest to find 15-30 minute workouts that you can do at home, I stumbled across Nike Training Club on my iPad.  NTC is a free, full-body training app that you can download on your iPhone, iPad or on your computer’s itunes.  There are over 90 workouts in 15, 30 and 45 minute intervals in four different categories: “Get Lean” high interval cardio drills to slim down, “Get Toned” light weights and intervals to add definition, “Get Strong” increased weights and reps to build strength, and “Get Focused” 15-minute workouts to target specific areas.

Once you select a workout category, you choose your fitness level of beginner, intermediate and advanced. Then you have about 6-8 workouts to choose from. When you select a workout (or drill) you see the list of exercises that you will be performing each with step by step instruction and video demonstration.  Once you decide to do the workout you have a Nike professional trainer that guides you through each step of the workout.  What’s really cool, is that you can pause the workout at anytime and play the video demonstration of the exercise if you are unsure of the movements.
And since most people have their itunes on their iPhone or iPad, you can select music to play during your workout. You can select and album, playlist or your entire library to shuffle.

I have tried a couple of these workouts and I really enjoy this program.  Its so simple to follow and you can do these exercises anywhere.  The only downside is that you do need to have some light dumbells and a medicine ball.  However, these are pretty inexpensive to purchase and would equal the cost of one personal training session in a gym, so I think the investment is pretty small since you can get 90 different workouts.  The program also tracks the workouts you have completed so you can redo them or just move on to the next workout.
