News flash: Certain types of bacteria can actually be healthy to ingest. Lactic acid bacteria found in fermented foods are beneficial for the digestive system. Pickles, kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir, and some types of yogurt are prime sources of these bacteria (also called probiotics).
