We’re all about natural beauty tips (remember this post on all the ways you can use coconut oil?), so today we wanted to share another natural product to use in your beauty routine: the tea bag! That’s right – a tea bag can be used to brighten tired eyes, tone your skin and more. Read on to find out how…
5 Beauty Dilemmas Solved with a Tea Bag
DILEMMA: Puffy eyes
Solution: Are you channeling the tired panda look more often than you’d like? Not to fear – a tea bag will brighten and de-puff your eye area in no time. Just bring two bags of tea, then wring them gently and allow to cool for a couple of seconds. Laying back, apply them to your eyes cucumber-style. Leave the tea bags on for about 15 minutes – the tannic acid in tea helps de-puff and shrink any puffiness in the eye area. Just call us bright eyes…
DILEMMA: Dull skin
Solution: Skin looking lifeless but no time to hit up the spa? Give yourself a DIY tea steam instead! Just bring 2-3 cups of water to a boil and pour into a large bowl. Add two tea bags (we like green tea because it has antioxidants and a super soothing scent), place a towel over your face, then bend over the bowl. The steam from the tea will open up your pores and tone your skin!
DILEMMA: Broken nail
Solution: Anyone who’s ever experienced a broken nail knows how painful they can get. Luckily, we’ve got an easy solution. Cut a small piece of a tea bag and place it over your broken nail, adhering it with nail glue. The tea bag will bond your nail together – just file off any edges and seal with a topcoat for polish-ready digits!
DILEMMA: Razor burn
Solution: Went a little crazy with your razor? No worries – the tannic acid in tea will soothe and heal the rash. Just steep the tea bag and apply to the inflamed area for several minutes. Bye, burn! (This works for sunburns too :)
DILEMMA: Foot odor
Solution: Keep your feet smelling fresh by soaking them in a tea bath for twenty minutes. Black tea is supposed to be the best at getting rid of odors; the astringency in tea closes up the pores that create any not-so-sweet odors and the tannins kill stinky bacteria.
Have you ever used a tea bag in these ways? Try it out and tell us what you think!
