The 2 Minute Meditation

Silent Journey The 2 Minute Meditation

Leo Babauta is a father of six, triathlete, marathoner, successful business owner and a vegan. He’s also an advocate for a minimalist 2 minute meditation routine that gets you up in running in minutes… literally.

Now, this parenting guru and action-packed human machine suggests a 4-step 2-minute routine in a post he wrote for zenhabits.net that just might lead to longer, more effective sessions.

First…
he suggests to commit to just 2 minutes a day. Anyone could block out two minutes, which makes it easy to begin your routine. And as time goes on, you can slowly work your way up to 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes and so on.

Second…
Leo offers up the advice to pick a time and stick to it. This will eventually create a habit which will be easier to abide by.
Step Three…
Involves you being comfortable. If you can muster up a classic meditation pose, then so be it, but it’s not necessary. Find a comfortable place to sit (park, office, living room, etc.) and relax.

And last…
It all comes down to your breathing. Babauta suggests focusing on your breath. Count to 10 for each inhale and exhale and repeat.
Not everyone has 30 minutes a day, but most of us can find a couple and those couple of minutes just might lead to the 30 you’ve been wanting. Give it a try – we have!

Be Well,
