You may have heard about a man who, earlier this summer, sprayed on aerosol sunscreen, walked over to the barbecue and promptly caught on fire. The accident, unlikely as it was, brought an important bit of information to light: Just like in other aerosol products, the propellants that help you go from zero to SPF 50 in 6 seconds flat are highly flammable—and it takes a little while for them to evaporate off your skin. For safety's sake, stay far away from the grill flame when applying sunscreen spray, and wait a few minutes before checking on your veggie burgers. Remember, the point of sunscreen is to prevent burns.
