While it may sound like a beer commercial slogan, drinking away your stress with a combo of healthy beverages is actually a non-caffeinated way to finally beat back all those nagging stresses throughout your day.
If you’re anything like me, you might look forward to pouring that first cup of coffee or brewing up your best cup of tea in the morning. After all, caffeine gets you going, but what you might not know is that it also increases your body’s production of the stress hormone adrenaline, which can cause a whole slew of not-so-fun stresses as your day goes on.
For more productive and less stressful results, you may try herbal teas like chamomile or mint. But tea might not be your thing and that’s okay. Another great way to drink your de-stressing cocktail is by drinking lots of water. 60 ounces a day or 8 glasses of water, is a good guideline to go by. Water helps you to gain energy while cleansing away any toxins that may be in your body. But even water gets dull and boring sometimes, right? If you want to drink your stress away with some taste, you might want to try a glass of fresh fruit juice. When you are stressed, you burn up more vitamins and minerals than usual, so in order to combat that, you may include juice that is rich in vitamin-C and other stress-fighting nutrients.
There’s no right or wrong way to combat stress. If it works, I say try all that is healthy, but you may just have more fun drinking away those everyday woes!
