In a recent study, couples in long-distance and face-to-face relationships reported their daily interactions over a week, monitoring both the types of interactions they had (in-person, phone, email, text, etc.) and the levels of intimacy they felt. Surprisingly, the researchers found that the long-distance couples felt more intimate. They tended to have deeper conversations, disclose more about themselves and made greater efforts to connect—technologically and emotionally.
