Warm Summer days are fading away and the kids have gone back to school, which can only mean one thing – cold and flu season is just over the horizon! If you want to kick germs to the curb and keep both yours and your family’s immune system strong, now is the time to eat lots of fresh Fall produce.
Being a health coach I know how important it is to eat as much produce as possible, and that is why I love juicing. You can cram so much produce into a delicious, easy to gulp down drink that packs a serious immune boosting punch. Plus, since I started juicing daily, my skin glows, my digestion has improved, and my energy levels have increased.
Juicing gives your body a huge boost of vitamins and nutrients, which is great for keeping the runny noses and sick days to a minimum. The ingredients used in this Immune Boosting Green Lemonade are in season during the late Summer and Fall season, so they are great for picking up at your local farmers market or food co-op. Plus, I choose them specifically for their immune boosting properties:
Lemon: Contains high levels of vitamin C perfect for kick-starting your immune system.
Apples: Contain antioxidants that boost your immune system, as well as anti-inflammatory properties that help keep diseases away. That’s why they say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!”
Kale: A serious superfood, a nutrient powerhouse that is loaded with vitamins A, C, and K. It is also less bitter in the Fall because the cold air sweetens it up. Tip – just use the leaves because the stems tend to be more bitter.
Cucumber and celery: Hydrating vegetables that will keep your body nourished so it doesn’t get run-down and become more susceptible to sickness.
Ginger: Helps kill viruses and bacteria infections. Eating ginger in the Fall is SO important for keeping sickness away.
You deserve to feel your best this Fall and have enough energy to do all the fun Fall activities like apple picking, hay rides, and cheering on the kiddos at their soccer games. Give the Immune Boosting Green Lemonade a try today – you’re body will thank you!
Please note: You can store this juice for up to 24 hours. Pour it into an airtight container, leaving as little airspace as possible to reduce oxidation, and store it in the refrigerator. Mason Jars and lids work really well for this.
