In a recent study in the UK, researchers asked young women to literally listen to their bodies by concentrating hard and counting their heartbeats. The women who were best at detecting their pulses were the least likely to objectify their own bodies. Seeing your body as an object is linked to body image dissatisfaction and eating disorders.
