The Pomegranate: Not A One Trick Pony

Let’s play a game. We’ll say a word and you tell us the first thing that comes to mind. Ready? The word is pomegranate. Was your first thought juice? Ours too. (Shout out to our 100% Pomegranate Juice.) And while tart, flavorful juice might be one of the simplest, healthiest uses for pomegranates, there’s a lot more where that came from. Click through to feast your eyes on some delicious ways you never knew you could use a pomegranate.

USE IT IN SOMETHING SAVORY

Pomegranate makes a mean, highly delicious glaze. Its natural tartness meets the sweetness of honey to form the topping for a spice-rubbed roasted chicken. If your mouth’s not watering yet, wait ‘til you click the link.
If you’re a beef person, this next recipe is right up your alley. Our friend pomegranate becomes part of a marinade for some tender top loin.

MAKE SALSA

The pomegranate can also go SoCal as evidenced by this bright, fresh recipe. Next time you’re fancying some chips and salsa, try this on for size. We bet it also makes a great topping for things besides chips. If you get creative, let us know how it goes.

OR MAYBE SOME VINAIGRETTE

Shake up the routine salad with some pomegranate vinaigrette. Here, it’s paired with roasted squash and tender greens. But we bet that vinaigrette is amazing on all sorts of stuff.

TRY YOUR HAND AT GELATO

Yes, we said gelato. Pomegranate gelato isn’t a far cry from pomegranate juice, really. Just add a few ingredients and you go from straight liquid to creamy, indulgent treat.

EAT IT FOR BREAKFAST

Oats and nothing but oats can get boring. But pair them with pomegranate and some cocoa nibs and you’ve got a seriously delicious yet healthy breakfast on your hands. Don’t thank us, thank Oh My Veggies.

What do you guys think? Time to stock up on some pomegranate? We’re thinking yes. Good thing they’re still in season. (But not for long. Hint, hint.)
