Do…
- Start off storing apples on the counter, and then move uneaten apples to the fridge after a few days.
- Storing potatoes with apples will stop the potatoes from sprouting.
- Store unripe tomatoes stem side down in a paper bag. The paper bag traps the naturally produced ethylene and will help them ripen faster. If you are in a hurry to ripen your tomatoes, throw a banana in there to speed up the process.
- If your tomato is too ripe, store it in fridge until you are ready to use it!
- Store asparagus in the fridge like flowers! Store standing up in water or wrap a damp towel around the ends.
- Store beets in a plastic bag to prevent wilting.
- Put cauliflower stem down in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge to keep fresh for a few days longer.
- Store unripe pears with bananas and apples, once ripe, store in fridge!
- Never store onions with potatoes, they will spoil! Keep onions in a cool, dry, dark and well ventilated place and they will keep up to 3 months
- Don’t keep a rotten apple with the rest or all your apples will rot!
- Don’t keep mushrooms in a plastic bag, they will rot! Keep them in a paper bag so they can breathe!
- Never store fruits and veggies in the same refrigerator drawer!
