Incorporate any one of these into your morning routine to see positive changes in your life.
1. Drink 1 liter (about 4 cups) of water.
From the time you wake up in the morning to when you leave your house for work, try drinking a liter of water. Many of us do not realize that are bodies detox when we sleep. When you flush your body with clean water in the morning, you're flushing the toxins out through your kidneys. This can prevent the sluggish feeling in the am.
2. Drink hot water with lemon.
Drinking hot water with lemon in the mornings before you eat breakfast will have a positive impact on your health. The lemon in the water will not only stimulate your digestion to begin breaking down foods for the day, it will also help support your liver in the processes of breaking down and removing toxins from your body.
3. Spend 10 minutes stretching or doing yoga.
Completing a 10-minute stretch before getting ready for work will not only wake you up in the mornings, but also can tone muscles as well as prevent any muscle injuries throughout your day. Sitting for 8 hours of your day can lead to stiff and aching muscles, and stretching them out first thing in the morning can prevent uncomfortable aches and pains.
4. Drink green tea instead of coffee (or better yet, drink a green smoothie).
This may be a hard one to try at first, but not relying on coffee to get you up and moving first thing in the morning is quite relieving. Green tea may have caffeine but it also has lots of antioxidant that can improve your overall health. Replacing coffee with a green smoothie can provide you with much-needed nutrients and give you long-lasting energy (unlike caffeine).
5. Set some goals.
Spend10 minutes in the morning jotting down your goals for the day. This will keep you focused and present and get you closer to achieving what you want at work or at home.
6. Meditate.
Spend 10 minutes in complete silence practicing meditation. Designate a room in your home for this purpose and practice quieting your thoughts. Studies have shown that meditation can improve many health conditions.
