Juicy, Deadly Cantaloupes

Most of Colorado is mountainous and breath-taking in beauty. But the area around my birthplace (LaJunta) is flat and unremarkable…except when it comes to cantaloupes.

Rocky Ford Cantaloupes are juicy, fragrant, and sweet, some of the best in the country.

Unfortunately their name was recently ruined by an outbreak of a food-borne bacteria called listeria which not only made a number of people sick but killed some elderly cantaloupe-eaters.

It is hard to gain a reputation, but easy to lose one.

That’s one reason God tells us:
Above all else, guard your heart…Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:23-27 (NIV)

Is someone you know on a swerving path? Are you? Pray today for ways that are firm.
