Pumpkin Yogurt-no whipped topping. I probably wouldn’t add the sugar or if I did, some Splenda. I would also use a low fat granola for the top. I wonder how it would be with apples….

This is interesting. After reading this, you’ll never look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas contain three natural sugars -sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes.
But energy isn’t the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
DEPRESSION: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
ANEMIA: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
BLOOD PRESSURE: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
BRAIN POWER: 200 students at a Twickenham school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packe d fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
CONSTIPATION: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
HANGOVERS: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
HEARTBURN: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
MORNING SICKNESS: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
MOSQUITO BITES: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
NERVES: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system..
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
ULCERS: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL: Many other cultures see bananas as a ‘cooling’ fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has FOUR TIMES the protein, TWICE the carbohydrate, THREE TIMES the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals.. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, ‘A BANANA a day keeps the doctor away!’

So i’m trying a different diet next week and I need some help! Please?

I want to try and go vegan for a week, just to see how difficult it would be and to see how I feel. I’ll be doing at my school, so vegan options are limited for me! I was wondering if any of you guys are vegan and have had any experiences with restricted access to vegan options.
Does anyone have any advice for me?
I’m planning on posting my progress at the end of next week and letting you guys know how it goes!

Roasted Vegetable Purée Soup

1 butternut squash
1 zucchini
2 sweet potatoes
1 potato
1 summer squash
1 white onion
Around 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
1/2 cup plain if Greek yogurt
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

Cut up all the vegetables into around one inch square pieces.

Toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Roast the sweet potatoes and potato at 425 for 35-45 (or until tender with the touch if a fork)

Roast the butternut squash an onions at 425 for about 25 mins (or until tender with the touch if a fork)

Roast the summer squash and zucchini at 425 for 15-20 mins (or until tender with the touch if a fork)

It’s easiest to put them all in at once (but keep them separated) and remove them when they feel tender to touch

Purée about two cups of vegetables at a time. Adding in vegetable/chicken broth until it is the consistency that you want

Add salt and pepper to taste

Dump the purée vegetables into a Dutch oven pan (or a big pot if you don’t have a Dutch oven) and simmer on low for about 15 mins, stirring every so often.

Remove from heat and let cool for about five mins.

Add half a cup of plain yogurt (or Greek yogurt) and stir constantly until mixed

Enjoy warm or cold!!

I also added 1tsp garlic salt, 1/2 tsp oregano, 1/2 tsp basil and 1 tsp onion salt.

You can use a bunch of different vegetables, I plan on adding kale and spinach next time I make it. Paprika, chili powder and red pepper flakes make great spices and give it a little kick too!

Lemme know what you guys think if you try it :)
Banana Pineapple Cinnamon Smoothie

1- 1 1/2 ripe banana
1/2 frozen or fresh pineapple
1 chobani yogurt (I used peach)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 skim milk or water

A couple ice cubes (if you used fresh pineapple)

Add more or less liquid for a thicker or runnier smoothie. Blend together the pineapple and milk first (milk and ice if you’re using fresh pineapple) and ten add everything else.

Blend until smooth.

Add more milk or water if too thick.

Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top and enjoy :)

So I’ve made this a few weeks back and fooled everyone. This is not mashed potatoes. This is mashed cauliflower. Less calories, less carbs, more vegetables, without reducing the flavor or adding any preservatives. If there are ever any “secrets” when it comes to this healthy lifestyle, then this would be it.
This is the recipe I used:
Ingredients:
8 cups Or 1 head of a Cauliflower Floret
4 cloves garlic, crushed and peeled
1/3 cup nonfat buttermilk
4 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 teaspoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground pepper to taste
Snipped fresh chives for garnish

Note: I did not use butter, and instead of 4 teaspoons of olive oil I used 3. Play around with this recipe until you are satisfied with the flavor and consistency.
Method:
Place cauliflower florets and garlic in a steamer basket over boiling water, cover and steam until very tender, 12 to 15 minutes. (Alternatively, place florets and garlic in a microwave-safe bowl with 1/4 cup water, cover and microwave on High for 3 to 5 minutes.)
Place the cooked cauliflower and garlic in a food processor. Add buttermilk, 2 teaspoons oil, butter, salt and pepper; pulse several times, then process until smooth and creamy. Transfer to a serving bowl. Drizzle with the remaining 2 teaspoons oil and garnish with chives, if desired. Serve hot.

Tea Soda: A complete guide!
Calorie free, sugar free, custom blended tea soda that’s super simple to make! This is one of my all time favorite drinks so I decided to put together a guide for how I like to make it. You can use absolutely any tea you like but fruity or minty teas have worked best for me. You can also try throwing in chunks of fresh fruit (especially berries) for a fun healthy holiday drink. I always carry tea bags around with me in the winter time but after a few hours inside studying sometimes need a cold drink, this is my go-to! :)
